Thrilling and fast paced shooty mctooty, with surprisingly fleshed out upgrades that add tons of strategies to gameplay and make you feel powerful. The game runs and feels great, zooming around and shooting everything your own way is fun as hell, yet there also remains a bit of strategy nuance as well, which is welcomed. Brute force doesn’t work. The fast movement does make platforming annoying and slippery, like playing as Luigi the whole game.
My biggest issue with this game’s obsession with its speed and hordes of enemies is it makes the experience a bit unmemorable. There are breaks where lore is explained and it is indeed interesting, but the actual gameplay blends together. The environments are pretty, but you’re too busy blasting demons to notice unless you go out of your way to stop. The game rewards you with secrets if you do this, but even so, its so chaotic that you end up just zooming by. The only memories I have of this game is the fun I had, but no specific moments besides some bugs I ran into.
A seriously fun game no doubt, but it didn’t blow me away.
