what looked like a measly spin-off turned out to be a really good game!
the story is VASTLY better than the original P5, with characters showing likeable qualities and actually making a difference to key elements of the plot. new characters have nice arcs too, zenkichi especially.
the japan-wide tour also allows for much character development and bonding, and gives a fresh new environment every few hours
gameplay is not mashy, a decent amount of persona and megami tensei brains have been infused into the combat. however i dont find myself missing the combat very much
movement is snappy and fast, though dashing to the wrong area is somewhat common
overflowing with style, even more so than original P5
the skills UI has been oddly tampered with, sometimes adding skills to members you use after a period of not using them is overwhelming and confusing
some decent QOL to demon fusion that even mainline SMT games dont have. wow.
the jails are an interesting new take on dungeons, but their design was somewhat forgettable as they’re all quite short
new music tracks are flames, except for the remixes of original persona 5 music.
