Yakuza 4 (Remastered)

7.5/10 – 19 hours

Addendum

Originally scored it as an 8/10, I think it’s more of a 7.5 now. It has the right amount of hype moments and aura, good music, fun combat, and a good amount of ambition for a Yakuza game, but the package itself is not the most solid. I still really like Yakuza 4.

A solid Yakuza game with badass moments, but plagued with corny, cartoony twists.

Akiyama’s section was slow and boring, but it led to a memorable experience with characters and lore revelations that remind me why i adore this series. Combat has been slightly improved with the multiple protags giving variety in fighting. Each character gets ample moments to act badass, Saejima especially. Game is still jank and unfair with armoring bosses, and weird, imprecise sections (tanimura slipping on oil). the plot is also not the most straightforward.

The music goes extremely hard though 👀
